Meesho product image size and requirements
Meesho product images must be square (1:1), at least 1000 × 1000 pixels, on a plain background, with no watermarks, text overlays or promotional badges.
Most Meesho image rejections come down to three things: the image is not square, it is smaller than the minimum, or it carries a watermark or price badge. All three are fixable before upload.
There is a fourth issue that is less well known and more consequential. Meesho takes a notably strict line on fully AI-generated product imagery, stricter than most marketplaces. The reasoning is structural: a large share of Meesho's buyers order sight-unseen from images forwarded through reseller WhatsApp groups, so an image that misrepresents a product does disproportionate damage.
The safe position is to enhance a real photograph of the item you will ship, and never to generate a product that was not photographed.
Meesho image requirements
Check these before upload rather than after rejection.
- Aspect ratio
- 1:1 (square). Non-square images are among the most common causes of rejection.
- Minimum size
- 1000 × 1000 pixels. Larger is fine and helps zoom; smaller is rejected.
- Background
- Plain and clean for the main image. Cluttered or busy backgrounds fail review.
- Watermarks
- Not permitted. This includes your own logo, shop name and any contact details.
- Text and badges
- No price tags, discount badges, 'best seller' flashes or promotional text burned into the image.
- Duplicates
- Do not reuse a supplier's catalogue image. Duplicate images across listings are penalised.
- AI imagery
- Meesho prohibits fully AI-generated product images. Enhancing a real photo of the actual item is the safe path.
Marketplace rules change. Treat this as a starting checklist and confirm against Meesho's current seller guidelines before a bulk upload.
Questions sellers ask
What is the correct image size for Meesho?
Square, at a minimum of 1000 × 1000 pixels. Larger square images are acceptable and give buyers a better zoom. Anything below the minimum, or any non-square aspect ratio, is a common cause of listing rejection on Meesho.
Why does Meesho keep rejecting my product images?
The usual causes are a non-square aspect ratio, an image under 1000 × 1000 pixels, a watermark or logo, or price and discount text burned into the image. A cluttered background on the main image and reused supplier photos also trigger rejections.
Can I use AI-generated images on Meesho?
Meesho prohibits fully AI-generated product imagery and takes a stricter line than most marketplaces. Its buyers frequently order from images forwarded through reseller groups without seeing the item, so misrepresentation carries more weight. Enhancing a genuine photo of the actual product is the safe approach.
Can I put my shop name or logo on Meesho images?
No. Meesho does not permit watermarks, logos, shop names or contact details on product images. This applies to your own branding as well as a supplier's, and it is one of the more frequent reasons an otherwise acceptable image fails review.
Do I need different images for Meesho, Amazon and Flipkart?
Often yes. The rules overlap but are not identical — dimensions, background requirements and AI-disclosure expectations differ by platform. Shooting once at a high resolution and exporting per-marketplace versions is more reliable than reusing a single file everywhere.
